These members of MDBW! Attendees of HomeWise 2019 heard from professional leaders, all members of Mt. Diablo Business Women.
Stacey Archbell, Wealth Management Advisor, Merrill Lynch, kicked off the event speaking about the importance of planning, especially for women, since the average age of a widow in the U.S. is 57. Stacey also stressed the importance of working with professionals to ensure your estate is in order. Stacey works with beginner investors up to advanced level investors.
Linda Lewis, Realtor, Alain Pinel Realtors, spoke about goals in one’s life noting that it’s important to write down all your goals, which brings life to them. She touched on some specific stories in regards to clients she has helped downsize or ‘right-size’ to their forever homes.
Lisa Andrews, Mortgage Advisor, All California Mortgage, noted that she qualifies buyers all the time who didn’t believe they could qualify to buy a home. She said, “It’s always worth your time to find out where you stand. If you don’t qualify now, there are often things you can do so that you qualify in 6 months or a year.” Lisa also talked about bridge loans, which allow buyers to move quickly when multiple offers are on the table, and then sell the departure home once the new home is secured.
Lorna Van Ackeren, Community Liaison and Senior Advocate, Hillendale Home Care, spoke on the importance of knowing your options before an emergency happens so that decisions about health-care are not rushed into. Lorna also explained various care options and average costs.
Amanda Keith, Reverse Mortgage Specialist, RFS, a Mutual of Omaha Bank Company, closed the event with cash-flow solutions for retirees or those thinking about retirement. Amanda explained that on average retirees hold 70% of their net worth in home equity. Understanding how to tap that equity strategically through use of a reverse mortgage can be the difference between running out of money during retirement, or having enough to be comfortable and have peace of mind.
